Is it safe....(TMI)

This may be a dumb question but... Is it safe to treat a yeast infection with an over the counter treatment if you have an IUD in place? I called the dr. but they closed for some reason today so I had to leave a message for the on call nurse..
I know for sure that it is a yeast infection. Thanks in advance for your reply.

  • Yes.

Your cervix is closed (because things don't need to 'get up there') except when you're at the height of fertility, menstruating or getting ready for birth --and even then, the 'flow' is downwards not upwards.

  • I believe so. The IUD is in your uterus, and the meds go in the vagina
