  • Fresh.

The best foods for humans at any stage of life is fresh, nutrient-dense, and tasty. As in, a fresh, crisp and juicy apple rather than apple chips or applesauce or apple poptarts (because whatever else you can say about 'shelf pastry', fresh does not apply!)

As unadulterated as possible --not preserved, salted, sweetened, fried, 'modifed' whatever that means, or purified. Whole grains that haven't been pulverized beyond recognition (sorry WonderBread, it is NOT the same as whole wheat if the bran has been powdered to the atomic level), or converted, or polished... or pre-flavored with whatever it is the engineers come up with.

Generally, engineered foods are easy to avoid simply by buying and preparing 'single ingredient' foods. Cream of mushroom soup can be made of nothing but mushrooms, onions, garlic, water and cream... and it takes about 12 minutes to do, unless you spend 2 minutes pureeing it.

    Aim for fresh.

  • As PP said, FRESH. Fresh veggies, fresh fruit, fresh nuts...
Omega-3s. Walnuts are a great way of getting it. Good fat, like from avocado. Lots of water.

  • You need the normal things that are good for you when you are not pregnant. Fruits and veggies and calcium from milk. And things that are healthy. Dont go on a diet. But throw in allot of these things, they are healthy. I love peanut butter and wheat bread with some jelly. Peanut butter is given by wick that wants to premote healthy mommys. So there is a treat. But with me, I have said before, if my body tells me it wants to eat something, that is what it is going to get.
