how soon can i work out after having the baby?

I'm 6 mos but i was just wondering because this time i plan on doing it a.s.a.p ! do i really have to wait 6 weeks? I know friends have started as soon as 2 weeks after but my o.b. said with my other pregnancies 6-8 weeks... for me thats too long!

  • Really you should wait to intensly exercise for 6 weeks. If that is too long, take daily walks.

  • as far as i know you should wait 6 weeks for your body to heal. 6 wks flies by so you will be too busy to notice.

  • Listen to your OB! One of my sisters didn't and tore her stitches at practice! I listened and started up full steam because I didn't like waitng either but I didn't harm myself by starting to soon!

  • I think I waited until I'd stopped bleeding to start working out again....mostly because those giant pads would show right through my spandex! Haha!
