How much should a 1yr olds weight? (Range)

My 1yr old has never been a chubby baby. He was born on time at 39weeks and weighed 8pnds. He eats great, oatmeal for breakfast, he can eat about 12ounces of mac and cheese for lunch and for dinner he eats great also. He just small not unusually small because his doctor isnt concerned but he just seems skinny to me.

  • My oldest and middle child weighed 19lbs at a year. My youngest weighed 17lbs at a year. All three were over 8lbs at birth. My nephews weighed 26 and 29lbs at a year.

Every child is different. Don't worry, unless your doc is worried.

  • Mine ranged from 16 - 25 lbs. One was an absolute peanut, her older brother was the chubby one, their baby brother was in the middle at just under 20 lbs.

  • My first was 32 inches and 32 pounds at a year. He is now um....27 months and 32 pounds and 37 inches. Don't worry, if he is active he will drop it over the next year. Mine did, when he went in for his 2 yr apt he was 31 pounds. My other baby is 13 months at a year he was just 24 pounds.

  • I can't give you a range without knowing his height. If you are concerned talk to his Dr. Has he been tested for anemia? Both of my boys weighed At or about 20 pounds at a year. My oldestest looked about 'average' my youngest looked like a pudge muffin. He is significantly shorter than his brother. Where things get serious is situation like when we got the call from CPS to take custody of our grandchildren. My GS was 11 months 2 weeks ...and he weighed 14.9 pounds.. now THATS a problem.
