Homework Wars

Does anyone else have trouble getting their children to do their homework? My daughter is in 3rd grade and she seems to have much more homework than last year. If she sat down and did it without interruption she could probably get it done in 20 minutes, but she fights with us every step of the way and it takes her well over an hour. It's driving me crazy.

  • Yeah we had to do it right after school with a snack time too.

  • Nope, no wars. We do homework as soon as they get home from school. They sit at the dining room table and have snack while doing homework. No arguments, no issues. They know that there will be no TV, no games, etc. until ALL homework is complete.

  • Our kids did homework after supper. I wanted them to let off steam after school. What if you tried changing the time she does it Or ask for her input about what might be a better time, a different location, or what would make her feel better about having to do it. GL

  • OP here, we tried letting her wait until after dinner, but then she complained of being tired (as well as being crankier) so we moved it back to right after school.
