Cooking supplies?

My husband is going to Culinary school to get his degree. He was asking for some new kitchen supplies (pots n pans...ect.) for our home for Christmas. I have no idea where to buy from. I am a Walmart/Target person but I know he wants something like professional or good quality. Anyone know where I need to shop? What brands I need to look for?

  • I just ordered some really good quality things from pampered chef. Some of their products have a lifetime guarantee.

  • Go to the America's Test Kitchen website and check out their suggestions. They do extensive testing of all equipment.

  • I agree with checking out "America's Test Kitchen". Definately a good first stop.
Also Food Network, where you can get the proffessional opinions of the chefs.

  • Well cheap doesn't mean good quality either.
I purchased Calphalon I am pretty lucky to be living near a home goods store it is attached to TJMaxx. Go for heavy duty pans. A higher grade is often heavier. I love my whisk with balls on the end so it will not scratch my non stick surfaces. I also love glass lids so I can see what is going on inside. I never met a lid I liked until I got glass ones.
