What is your tried and true quick dinner recipe?

  • Smoked Sausage & Baked Beans
    1 onion, chopped
    1 green pepper, chopped
    2 cans baked beans
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1 /2 cup ketchup
    1 lb. smoked sausage
    Sauté onion and green pepper in a little oil, then add everything to a baking dish. Cut up smoked sausage and place on top. Bake about 45 minutes at 350.

    Smoked Sausage and Cabbage
    1 pkg. shredded coleslaw mix
    1 onion, chopped
    1 green pepper, chopped (optional)
    1 lb. smoked sausage
    Sauté cabbage, onions and peppers in a little oil. Add sliced smoked sausage, cover and continue to cook about 15 minutes until it smells so good you can't stand it any more! Or, this can be placed in the oven for about 30 minutes at 350.

  • Spaghetti. We have a jarred sauce on hand (all natural) and home made meatballs in the freezer ready for the oven.

  • Chicken A La Queen: 4 chicken breasts, cooked and cut into bite size pieces, 1 can cream of chicken soup, 1 can cream of celery soup, 1 can cream of mushroom soup, 1 can chicken broth, 2 cups frozen mixed veggies. Warm everything together and serve over rice.

  • Spaghetti using Hunt's sauce in the can. Dinner in 20 minutes (or however long it takes the noodles to cook, which is usually longer than the hamburger). It's my emergency meal so I always keep a can of Hunt's sauce around.

  • Egg Foo Yung : Fry diced onions... Set aside. Scramble eggs... Set aside. Drain a can of bean sprouts; heat them up. On individual serving plates--- put a helping off the eggs. On top of that, put a bit of the fried onions. On top of that, put a some of the bean sprouts. Season it all with soy sauce.

  • Black bean quesadillas. I always have some filling in the freezer for emergency dinners. It is my family's favorite dinner.

  • 45 min chili...

    1lb ground meat
    1 onion
    3 cants tomato soup
    2 cans Red kidney beans (drained)
    tabasco sause
    chili powder

    Brown ground meat and onion together. Add tomato soup, kidney beans, tabasco sause and chili powder. You can serve with some cheese on top or with crackers

  • skillet beef & mac

    brown ground beef with onion and green pepper and drain
    add 1 15 oz can of each tomato sauce and tomatoes either stewed or diced
    2 cups water
    1 to 2 cups of elbow pasta, depending on how much pasta you want
    1/4 A1 steak sauce
    1 teaspoon italian seasoning

    simmer over the stove top w/out cover for 20 to 25 minutes
