Would you rather live in a McMansion or a smaller home?

I prefer the smaller home, granted I have never lived in a McMansion but am currently in a 1600 square foot home and feel it is too big. We are a family of 5 but the children are on their way out (in college, now).

  • If I had the money for one of those huge monstrosities, I'd live in a more reasonable sized house and spend the rest of the money on things like trips and education and helping others. I can never understand why anyone would want to live in a house so big that you can all have your own space and never have to see or hear each other.

  • I would hate to be in a house that huge. I'd prefer a reasonably sized house any day. :)

  • I have a small ranch style house, and I could use a few more cupboards in my kitchen, but I'm happy with it.
