How long can you keep nail polish before you should throw it out?

I have a shoe box full of nail polish that is over 4 years old. I occasionally go thru it and shake up the bottles to see if they'd dried up, but they still seem to be liquidy. Do they ever go bad?

  • Nail polish can last a very long time, but you will no when it start to go bad because it looks clumpy and that's when it's time to throw it out.

  • I have had bottles of nail polish for about 5 years and they seem good to me but when they get really thin and you can't get coats that's when I throw them out.

  • When it gets to where its all gunked around the opening and its too thinned out or theres 1/3 left, I let it go. But, I keep mine around for at least 2 years.
