How old do you think a child should be to have a cell phone?

  • When you think they need it. My son had one at 10. That seems to be the age all the kids get them. I think that all the parents who say wait until they are a teen, still have young kids. They have not yet been there, and do not know.

  • I think when they are old enough to go somewhere without an adult. If they have an adult they can borrow their cell phone for an emergency. 13 is a good age.

  • Old enough to where you feel they need it. It's a matter of personal situation. My son wants one. I told him we'd discuss it when he starts junior high and starts having after school activities.

  • When they have a job and can pay for it themselves

  • High school aged. Even then, too soon but need if for notifying parents of schedule changes, etc. Not good for the developing brain.

    I think kids should use them only in an emergency.
