can I freeze a cooked pork roast?

I put a pork roast in the crockpot yesterday for dinner today, but I just found out that we have to go out of town ASAP for more than a week. I don't want to throw it away, and can't think of someone to give it to, so can I freeze it?

  • Yes, make sure it is well wrapped though.

  • Absolutely! I would put it in portion size containers, ziplock freezer bags and freeze. It can be frozen and maintain good quality for about 2 months. I often freeze pork. It will make for an easy dinner when you get back.

  • I would shred it up and freeze it in the broth, I am afraid if you freeze it whole, it might be dry when in unthaws!

  • I agree... should be fine in the freezer as kimigogo says......with the broth so it wont dry out.
