How long will it take a 20lb turkey to thaw?

Never thawed one.. wasnt sure when i should move it to the fridge?

    Whole turkey:

    * 4 to 12 pounds …… 1 to 3 days
    * 12 to 16 pounds …… 3 to 4 days
    * 16 to 20 pounds …… 4 to 5 days
    * 20 to 24 pounds …… 5 to 6 days

  • I would say by sunday or even monday cause it will be okay in the fridge for a day unthawed. You can take it out later but then do the cool water in the sink way to unthaw.

  • My mom always buys a 20# turkey & I asked her..she said to give it at least 3 days..that's how she does her's..hope we helped out some...

  • Saturday put it in the refrigerator. Often it seems like it's thawed out, then you try to take the giblets out, and it's still frozen inside. If that happens, put it in cold running water.

  • I was just reading a little health magazine I get, and they said that it should thaw in the refrigerator, 6 hours per pound, leaving it out on your counter is just asking for salmonella! I don't know how we all ever survived, ours was in our laundry sink thawing out for days! I have gotten to where I buy a couple breasts on sale, and a couple of thighs and legs and build my own! That way I don't have that stinkin carcass to clean, because I can't stand to throw away food! lol
