# Is a 14 lb turkey big enough to feed 5 adults and 3 children?

• typical portioning is 2 lb per adult. so it will be cutting it close. Maybe make a ham with it?

• It would probably be enough, but to have a comfortable amount plus leftovers, I'd go with 16 to 20 lbs.

• The calculator seems a little low to me... I wonder if it is accounting for a pounds of whole bird or if it is counting actual meat...

• We are a family of 4 2 adults and 2 children we do a 15 (ish) pound bird and have left overs for a few days. When we had everyone over 6 adults 2 kids we did a 18 pound bird with leftovers but not near as much. In fact a 5 pound chicken does just the 4 of us dinner and one lunch.

• Should be plenty. I feed 9 adults every year with a 14 lb turkey and always have plenty of leftovers.
