  • There is a lot of stuff out there over the counter, one that comes to mind is Reed, and yes it works, all of them do.

  • Rid works really well.

During the school year, I have my kids use shampoo with tea tree oil in it (I bought the oil at Target and add it to shampoo), they haven't gotten lice for years. Lice don't like the smell I guess, it's a good natural repellent.

  • I heard mayo works. There are other things that aren't as harsh as rid that they sell. Make sure all nits are out of the hair. The whole house has to be cleaned from top to bottom as well as any car they were in. After vacuuming the bag has to be taken outside. Stuffed animals can be put in a garbage bag for 3 days, tightly closed. Wash everything in the hottest water possible.
