Boric Acid Capsules

My OBGYN suggested I use Boric Acid capsules. I never heard of it before. I read that is used as a pesticide for incects, like cockroaches! I am wondering if my OBGYN is crazy? Why would I used this on me? Or is this a common practice? I know my question may sound strange but she seemed very serious. Something about this really concerns me. Thanks!

  • I used boric acid capsules many years ago for a really persistent yeast infection problem. It's not crazy. It's sort of an old home remedy. When used as a vaginal insert, it changes the pH in the vagina making it a less hospitable environment for yeast. It is not without potential side-effects, though, so do some research on your own before trying this route.
