Is Back Combing The Same Thing As Teasing?

Is back combing hair the same thing as teasing hair?

Does that cause hair breakage?

Does it make shampooing & conditioning harder?

Does a bump-it provide the same look/effect?

How can I give flat, straight hair a little body?

  • yes, its the same. it can cause breakage over time, or if done too roughly. i've never used the bumpit, but it sounds interesting.
you should comb or brush out any teasing before you shampoo your hair. otherwise, you're gonna have one hotmess of tangles.

oooooooo!  Light bulb moment!  My problem in the past was I never brushed it out before getting in the shower.  Duh!  Some of the most obvious things are not so obvious to me.  Thank you!

I have some, used it once, and apparently don't know how, LOL.  =)  I need to watch some more youtube videos to figure it out, I guess.  It feels like hairspray.

  • I have the Goody Volumizing Boost Comb, which seems to be Goody's version of the Bump It, and I think I'm ready to venture on to the real Bump It's.

  • back combing is the less extreme version of teasing, ratting is the super extreme version think the Cure.
ratting certainly does but if not properly teasing is not to bad

Best Advice: Invest in a good haircut that flatters your face and hair type. Buy the product the salon used to create the finished look.
