China's carrier-killing missile could make it king of the sea

So Obama says we should cut missiles and weapons but it seems while he is gung ho other countries are not. They continue to ramp up their weaponry.
This is just one example. What do you think?

  • Carrier-killing missiles "could have an enduring psychological effect on U.S. policymakers," he e-mailed to The AP. "It underscores more broadly that the U.S. Navy no longer rules the waves as it has since the end of World War II. The stark reality is that sea control cannot be taken for granted anymore."

  • Oh jeez.
The fact is we don't NEED these traditional types of armamants anymore. It's psychological warfare to have enough nuclear subs in the water at any one point to knock the earth out of orbit.
And really...we can cut defense spending and still have the largest and most well armed military force in the world. Military technology is 12-15 years ahead of wherever we think it is. If THIS is China's brand spanking new technology, we don't have a thing to worry about. We don't run around tooting our horn over every single advancement we make. We deploy them quietly, let them do their jobs, than we bring them home. We don't talk about it unless we had too. You think if the world had known about our Silver Bullets three years before Desert Storm we would have had the success that we had?

  • This is like fear during WWII when people were afraid Japan would fly over and bomb the west coast or when people on the east coast were worried about Germany's long range missiles. Who knows ....
