i couldnt believe this .. asthma attack caused by facebook

A case of Facebook triggering asthma has prompted warnings about the psychological dangers of social networking sites.

Doctors in Italy reported on a depressed 18-year-old who was dumped by his girlfriend and then saw her picture on Facebook.

The shock brought on an asthma attack, which was repeated each time he logged on and accessed his ex's profile. When a psychiatrist persuaded the teenager to stay clear of the site, the attacks stopped.

  • I'm going to have to say that I'm tired of hearing people blame Facebook for ruining marriages and apparently giving people "asthma attacks." Its like blaming Mcdonalds for making you fat. No one MAKES you create an account, no one MAKES you talk to certain people on there, no one MAKES you look at your xgirlfriend's page continuously even though it clearly makes you really upset. Other example of how no one in this world wants to take personal responsibility. If you start having asthma attacks from looking at facebook, then freaking STOP! DUHHHHHH

  • That's bullshit.... for real? LOL... Mabey he was getting panic attacks...? I don't see how seeing a pic can make you get an asthma attack... and really, if he felt that way when he saw her profile... wouldn't common sense tell the idiot to stay off it? Wow.

  • That is about stupid! It was not fb that cause his attacks but his own anxiety and inability to handle rejection.

  • Then why did the kid keep logging in and checking her out.....

Seriously.. People need to take responsiblity for their own actions and quit laying blame on social networking sites. Logging into a social networking site, participating in a social networking site, and continueing to do so (even when you know you will have some adverse reaction) is a choice.. Quit making the choice. Quit suffering adverse affects from that choice.
