Do you colour your own hair? What brand do ya use?

I use Natural Instincts which is a semi permanent & gentler on the hair.

  • Garnier also, but dark brown. Either Herbashine or Nutrisse, whichever is priced better the day I'm shopping. :-)

  • I use Loreal or Herbal Essence. Hair color is actually nothing like it used to be and actually not terrible for hair anymore.

  • As a hairdresser, I usually never recommend anyone ever coloring their own hair at home, LOL, but if you really must...Clairol has a fairly low ammonia color at Sally's Beauty Supply. (Any permanent color you get at Wal-Mart, Target, etc has a very high ammonia content) Just be sure that if you are using the right developer. If you are going darker, NEVER use anything higher than 10 volume for longer than 20 minutes. If you are covering gray and using your natural color, use 20 volume for no longer than 30-40 minutes. If you are lifting your hair a few levels (going much lighter or highlighting), then you should use 30 or 40 volume for no longer than 40-50 min. Happy coloring! :)

  • it depends on if I am going light or dark - I like the two or three step products that have the base color and then you add your own high or low lights
