How to ask nicely.

Growing up and in my dh's previous marriage he would be attacked for expressing himself. I like to talk. That's how I work it out but he gets defensive. How can I approach him with concerns I have without encouraging defensive responses on his part? It's our one marital roadblock.

  • If you want him to respect your ways of dealing then you have to be open to respecting his. It's just not going to happen over night. I've got an SO like him and it's taken me over 4 yrs to get him to open up and we're still not totally where I'd like us to be. I accept his way and he tries mine (slowly). that's all I can ask.
