When you make mashed potatoes, do you use red or russet?

I like to use russet potatoes with fat free sour cream and cream cheese. Oh and I boil the potatoes in water that has a bit of chicken stock and a head of garlic.

Any other tasty suggestions are very welcome as I'm hosting my first Thanksgiving here this year....(it's always been at my mom's or mother in law's house.)

Thanks! :)

  • Neither! I use Yukon Golds! Sooo yummy. I normally do sour cream, butter and milk, but sometimes I'll do cream cheese. Mmmmm

  • I personally just get Idaho potatoes and use milk and butter. You could also add in some sour cream or some seasonings. It's a fun thing to get creative with.

  • We usually have the big old Idaho Spuds that we use becuase my mother in law gives them to us after they go and glean the feilds. I dont mind, free poatoes.
I just boil mine in water and thena dd salt, pepper, some milk and a chunk of butter. Some days I add cream cheese or sour cream or cheese. Kinda whatever sounds good that day.
