What is wrong with people?

Why is everyone worrying about pat downs and groping when they should be worried about what comes before that? Seriously, KEEP THEM OUT OF THE U.S. and we would not need to take these measures at all(I don't think we do anyway) How many times have we heard, they were not on the list or they were on the list but they were allowed anyway. Why don't we stress doing whats right in the first place. Hearing people complain about the patriot act and then saying whats the big deal about being groped makes me sick

  • Me too. Aside from 9/11 the major terrorist threats have been from incoming flights. Not outgoing flights. Shoebomber, underwear bomber, the plot to use liquids etc have been from flights coming into this country.

  • Our local news did a story that said 80% of American's either support or at least mildly agree with the new security but that it's the much louder 20% we keep hearing from... Now, I don't know about all that, but I personally don't have an issue with them. I can honestly say I wish we had security measures like this a decade ago... Would people have liked it? Nope. Would it have saved lives? Yes! What's more important? Saving lives or individual privacy?

I would agree with you on the "keep them out" point, accept that not everyone who puts us at risk is "out" in the first place. Most terrorists are firmly integrated long before they make their attack... And then there are always those who will turn against their own people... It's not just outsiders we need to worry about.

That's where you're wrong. These security measures would not have changed a thing. You are no safer today than you were a month ago, a year ago, or a decade ago.

  • I have had both the pat down and the scanner. The pat down happened as a boarded a plane from So America bound for the US The scanner was when I was entering the domestic terminal after having just exited the International terminal. My husband, who takes probably 4-6 domestic flights a week, has had NO scans or pat downs-

I do think International travelers are more likely to receive more invasive screening.

  • I read that these new security measures were not put in place because of increased terrorist threat-they were put in place because the TSA identified these areas as weak links through testing that THEY did on the system. TSA workers successfully smuggled shit on to planes past the security checkpoints. I don't travel on a weekly or even monthly basis-so I have no fear about the radiation exposure that the frequent flyers have. And as far as being groped or felt up goes-it's been so long that I would probably squeal with glee and urge them to go higher -faster! LOL

  • I am surprised of those who were very vocally against the PA and yet ok with this too..matter of fact some love these measures..thats really beyond me JEEZ.

There are things those scanners and pat downs won't even detect..so your flight could still be hijacked and blown to peices. There are better ways like what Israel does..and yet so Americans would rather this? Really?
