There is an infinite number since you can always have a slight variation from one shade to another.

The human eye can detect about 10 million different shades - women can see many more than men which explains why men say things "What in the heck is mauve?!?!"

For basic uses, there are 11 or so... red orange yellow green blue purple black white brown grey pink

You can make an argument that either black or white are not actually colors but you can only argue for one of them. You argument against one will be in support of the other.

  • setting for your monitor resolution says "millions and millions" of colors. (32 bit) It all depends on the person or eyesight of the person I guess. Kaycee14 is right though. Only 11 basic colors and to go even further. only 3 standard colors that make every other color in the rainbow
    Red, yellow, and blue.
