Babys fingernails...

Do you cut them, file them or bite them for your baby?

  • Bite? Do people really do that? I cut my sons when he was little, well, my husband cut them!

  • IDK if people actually bite them but I have heard that it keeps them softer and you don't cut their skin that way.

  • I had a friend who was still biting her son's at 3 years. She was just more comfortable with that and trusted herself more doing that. You can't cut their quick that way.

I've always cut my kids'. Tried filing the first one, but he wouldn't stay still long enough to actually get anything done. And I've never been a successful biter, even of my own nails.

  • I cut them. I tried to file, but they were so soft it didn't work. And it would have taken so long. I did it fast.

  • Ok thanks. Been filing them but now it's hard to keep him from grabbing at it and pulling away. Been scared to cut them. Thanks again ladies.

  • I bit my sons when he was a baby, but with my newest I cut her's, her nails are not as thin as his were. I have to use clippers for hers.

  • I used to bite my baby's fingernails until she was about a year old and then I started cutting them.

  • I used to bite my son's fingernails when he was first born because I was too scared to clip them. I bite my own nails so it was a piece of cake. When he turned like 3 months old, I started clipping them with a baby nail clipper when he'd go to sleep. He's 15 months now and I still do it. Never had a problem. *knock on wood*
