I'm hearing on TV that people are going to spend a lot more on Christmas gifts this year than last. Do you believe that or is this just a retailer ploy to make us feel comfortable spending money?

  • we are going even cheaper this year since we have a baby on the way. only relatives under the age of 10 get a gift and those even have to be cheap

  • considering they started with the Christmas ads the day after Halloween, Im assuming they are praying and hoping we spend more this year! With so many people still out of work and others with their jobs being ready to cut, I doubt people are going as crazy as the market would hope we would be.

  • i believe it, just by paying attention to some of my spending and friends and families spending too,it has increased from last year, so it's possible

  • I usually spend over $1000. total on gifts, and that is just for immediate family, me & DH and kids and grandkids. I work for the school 10 months out of the year, so that is over $100. each month tht comes out of my paycheck just for our Christmas.

  • We will not be spending more, it really depends on peoples situations. We have a big expense coming up so that will cut into our Christmas budget.

  • Absolutely not! I'm very careful with how I spend and very conservative in how I gift.
