  • IF you can give them their own rooms early, great. If not I don't think it's usually an issue til puberty. Some states have laws about that kind of thing, but most don't come up unless there would be other issues.

  • That is something on my mind & DH's as well (our 2 kids are almost 5 and 3). I think that it depends on if your kids need someone to be there with them--like if they're afraid to be alone or not. I agree w/ SabrinaMBowen in that it probably wouldn't be inappropriate till around puberty, but they'll probably be asking for their own space before this. I had a cousin who recently separated her twins, who are almost 7 yrs old. For them, it was an issue of one talking too much, keeping the other awake while the other wanted space, however, vs. inappropriateness.

  • Mine have always had their own rooms, because we had the space available. As far as what age is it inappropriate for opposite sex children to share a room? Generally, past elementary school - but that will vary from family to family.

  • ell we have one boy age 7, and he has lawys had his own room, and our 3,and 4 year old girls share a room, and our 1 year old girl will share her room with the new aby girl in Jan! The military will not allow boys and girls to share after one of them is 7 years old!

  • When mom and dad can afford a place with enough bedrooms, then it's time I guess. You can't really put a RIGHT age on this, for every family has a different amount of living space.

  • I shared a room with my brother till we were both seven and nine. My son has his own room and always has. Of course, he is an only child.

  • i think that it's time when they ask for their own rooms, and honestly want and need their own space. i think under 7 or so is no issue, as long as they have their own space within the room.
