  • Depends on what I'm baking. If I am making a cake for my family, I will use applesauce. If I am baking my corn casserole and sweet potatoes (I am today, to take over for a family gathering), I will use BUTTER.

  • Certain recipes call for either butter or shortening. I don't ever use margarine. It's either unsalted sweet cream butter or butter flavored crisco.

  • I prefer butter. I do use a lot of applesauce or other fruit/veggie purees, but nothing tastes like butter.

  • Butter. Perhaps applesauce but NEVER margarine or shortening...they are so very bad for you. Hydrogenated oils kill!
