  • I have 5 kids. My oldest is 24. I admit it is not often, but my kids on occasion have had dessert first and an occasional popsicle for breakfast. I haven't lost one yet! This is to me NO big deal.

  • well, ifyou don't finish what you have on your plate you're obviously not hungry so why would you want dessert (wich btw can be something like yogurt, fruit, carrot sticks whatever that means in YOUR house)

  • Usually if my kids eat at least most of their dinner, they can have dessert, but we don't have dessert every day. Lately it's been Halloween candy just about everyday, typically though, we only have dessert maybe once a week.

  • I believe in giving my daughter appropriate (small) portions of healthy foods for dinner and requiring her to eat it all before she can have anything else to eat. I don't force my child to eat more than she's hungry, which is why I give her small amounts, but if I don't, she will eat a few bites and then try to eat crackers and snack foods all evening. Lately, I've offered her a treat if she eats all of her food and we have a treat and if she is still hungry in the evening, she can have fruit or carrots to snack on.

  • Thats a rule in our house or if they dont eat all their dinner and they say they are hungry later they dont get anything

  • I completely agree with MamiJaAyla, if you are not hungry to eat what is on your plate, then you are too full to eat dessert. Most of the time dessert is yogurt, applesauce, baked apples, not cookies, cakes etc. b/c I don't like to bake.

  • I don't make sweets punishment for not eating. I don't make sweets rewards for eating.
