  • Well, I think it depends on the child. My daughter started walking at 10 months and my sisters girl started when she was 8 months. Her son couldn't walk on his own until he was 13 months.

  • My son didn't start walking on his own until he was 17 months old, but I know of other kids that started walking earlier than that. I didn't rush him, it will come when the child is ready. I could talk to the pediatrician if you are still really concerned. That never hurts, that's what I did. And he's 3 1/2 now and goes non stop :) Good Luck

  • My DD didn't start walking independently till recently 16 month .
She walked before just not much, now she cruises.
I think they just need o build their confidence first

  • I think every child is different, some walk at 9 months, others take their time. My first daughter was walking at 11 months, my second a week shy of 16 months. Anything after 18 months I would be concerned about.

  • Around one year old is certainly the most common, but there is still a wide range of possibilities. I have a friend whose children don't walk until they are 17 or 18 months old! Nothing wrong with them, just slower to walk then most babies. I also know children who started walking around 8 months!! Mine were all walking days after their first birthday. However my baby, who will be one next week, is showing no signs of even being close to walking!

  • Once your baby masters crawling they will be grabbing for something to pull themselves up to start their walking stage. I think that transition might have started around 9 months and by at least a year they were toddling around since I was concerned about them getting into things when that started happening.

  • the range is from 12 months- 18 months typcially mine is almost 13 months, and he's not walking by himself, or standing by himself either, ( only when he holds onto something) but, i'm not worried he will get it.
