is papsmear test safe

i am 22 yrs old and i am thinking to go for an papsmear test. is it painful?wont it damage my uterus.

Need Advice from someone who ince done it.

  • It won't damage your uterus and they aren't very painful. Mildly uncomfortable, especially the first. They just scrape your cervix (sounds worse than it is, it just kind of feels like a Q-tip being rubbed across it). Try to not tense up, because that might make it more uncomfortable.

  • it is not painful, i just find them awkward. the doc may scrape something, but that is a very quick scrape and fairly painless.

  • I agree with the other ladies. It can be a bit awkward if you haven't ever been examined like this before. Just try to remember that this is what the Dr does - to them, it's no more personal than it is for the Dentist when he / she examines your teeth.

    Just do what the Dr tells you, try to relax (it's not going to hurt, but could be a little uncomfortable - the q-tip description is a good one - and the uncomfortable part goes quickly).

    I would strongly suggest that you get it done - the health benefits to having the test done well outweigh the slight discomfort and any awkwardness.
