When to thaw the turkey...

I have a 13.44 pound Turkey in the freezer right now..When should I take it out to thaw it?

  • In the fridge, you need about 5 hours per pound, so for a 13.44 pound turkey, you need approx. 67 hours of defrosting fridge time. Put it in now. On Thursday, see how thawed it is. If it's not totally thawed, submerge breast side down STILL IN THE WRAPPER, in a clean sink or bucket of cold water. Change the water every 30 minutes until thawed.

    Got to butterball.com, they have a calculator that will tell you, but I'm guessing you need it out asap. I did the calculator for my 15 pound turkey and it said it would take 3 days and 18 hours to thaw in the fridge.
