  • I don't think so actually because the woman is the one who gives birth, thus her body needs more time to recover.

  • I thought maternity leave was because the woman actually gave birth and needed time to recover, like momofonelilguy stated above.

  • possibly, if the father is taking an active role and helping the mother care for the baby.

  • My husband did have as much as I did. We both received 6 weeks off from work. The only difference was mine was paid and his was not.
