  • most birth mothers are not married so when they look for new parents they prefer them to be married maybe if you applied to be a foster mom for awhile you would be able to adopt one of the kids that you are a foster mom for

  • Nope, not in the US. Some countries require you to be married for international adoption, and some agencies (Christian agencies typically) require you be married. But most agencies and foster adopt programs don't require you be married.

  • NO, you are not required to be married. However, if you go through an agency that allows the birth mother to choose the family, most of the young, unmarried girls want a two-parent family for their babies. Foster adopt programs don't require you to be married and you would be able to have a child in your home for a while before you adopted, to see how the two of you meshed with personalities, etc. The bonus of adopting through foster care is that it does not cost a lot and in some states, you get a stipend to help cover costs, even after the child is adopted.
