Little Girl Jewelry Box?

My mother-in-law and I were talking earlier today and we thought that giving my daughter a jewelry box (she's just turned 4) will help her learn to respect what little jewelry she gets (cheap jewelry; she's not wearing anything really expensive right now) if she knows they have a special place.

Do you think a little girl might take better care of costume jewelry if they were supposed to go into one of these?

Here are a few ideas we have and they're all $25 or less :

Jiang Feng Wooden Jewelry Box, Cherry

Mele Paige Girl's Musical Ballerina Photo Frame Jewelry Box

Mele Polly Girl's Wooden Hearts and Polka Dots Upright Jewelry Box

  • Absolutely, not only that it will make her feel special...I remember my first one, I actually still have it waiting to pass it down to my granddaughter (as soon as I get one)..... I love that first box..

  • They are all adorable, but I do not think a 4 year old will actually take care of her stuff just yet, but it is a start.

  • I think its a great idea. Don't know how well she'll take care of the jewelery but I would do it. I like the first one

  • Great Idea!!

When our daughter was 3 we gave her a little jewelry box (complete with a few sparkley, inexpensive trinkets). EVERYONE sighed a collective "aaaaw" when she opened this gift. She clasped her little hands together and squealed, "I LOVE it! Just what I always wanted, ALL MY LIFE!"

    ...uh oh....I'm tearing again. :,o )

  • ha! both my 2 and 3 year olds have boxes... sure other things end up in there like the missing remote and odd pieces of candy... things they cherish.... along with their hello kitty and disney princess ring collections... they love them.

  • I still have the one my mom gave me. It was light yellow and had the wind up ballerina that played Swan Lake. It was nice to have a place to put the jewelry I had. I kept a pair of gold earrings in there for 7 years until I finally got my ears pierced.
