Do you believe in "the 5-second rule"?

For example, the last (insert yummy goodie) falls on the floor. Have you done it? If so, do you let your kids use the rule? What do you think if/when you've seen other people do it? Just curious.

  • I USED to ..........but no...not even if after I mop the floor with my Swiffer.........once you walk on it......its worse than tainted! LOL

Just imagine what IS on your shoes. I saw a video once about just what you are walking over when outside and they tested a shoe....and even though this person did not walk in grass, was on concrete...walking from a store or somewhere they had some how gotten dog feces on the bottom......traces of it were found.

Just no. Same thing for the sink....even though you scrubbed and cleaned it with a new sponge...etc....they showed just how dirty with bacteria your sinks still are!

  • Nope, if it hits the floor it's instantly contaminated.

  • Depends on who's floor. At my house, by all means I'll pick it up and eat it or feed it to my kid. Pretty much anywhere else, no way.

  • Depends on the floor! 9 times out of 10 though definately not! I'm not eating anything that hits the ground.

  • Yep... I don't buy in to the "big bad germs" way of thinking...

Answer by SabrinaMBowen at 2:14 AM on Nov. 23, 2010

  • Yeah. If the floor is pretty clean we'll allow that. Then agian, I've had my daughter drop her sucker on the ground at walmart and pop it back in her mouth before I get the chance to take it away for being contaminated and THAT didn't hurt her so....
