Korea

It was all over the news this morning and my husband's phone was ringing at 0430 from friends we have stationed over there.

My question is do you think now South Korea is going to try and use this to pressure us into letting them redeploy our weapons like they've been considering?

  • This attack worries me. I don't know the answer to your specific question, though.

My dad served in Korea from 1953-1955. He died several years ago; I wonder what his opinion on this attack would be.

  • I hope we can manage to stay out of there. With a democrat in office I would be surprised if we did try to Intervene.

  • Uh, we have US troops stationed in Korea, we won't stay out of it. There's no way. Why do you think we are still there? Just what WILL the US do? IDK, but we will be involved.

  • LMAO! They won't just bring them home! They have opened up the US bases there for families to also PCS there! It's not a deployment to Korea, it's a PCS to Korea. They won't just 'bring them home'.

  • That's like saying just close the bases in Germany and Japan and bring them home, you're talking about thousands of families, not just soldiers.

  • Wow, and just how much $ would that COST?? Where would they go when they got back stateside? OMG! LOL! How silly. They won't close down military bases in Korea.

  • I'm just curious about who's side China will be on. If the U.S. does get involved, will we be at war with China as well?

  • China does not trust NK. And we have a mutual defense treaty with South Korea.

  • I hope you're right about China Carpy. It makes me a bit nervous since China seems to stick up for NK when they folly.
