Is is too soon?

I moved my son to a forward facing child seat. Hi is 8 months old and seems mor comfortable and is much happier when we travel. Do you think I moved him too soon? It is still a five point restraint and fits him snug.

  • BY LAW you have to keep him rear-facing until a certain age and weight. I think 12 months and 22 pounds. So yes, it's too early.

  • Congrats, you just broke the law.

Not to mention one year AND 20lbs is the bare minimum. His safety is FAR more important that his happiness when riding in a vehicle. You might also want to look into Extended Rear Facing and watch the crash tests for it. Even watch the forward facing too soon crash tests. Maybe you will change your mind.

  • I also want to add for whoever voted down the first poster, they are looking into changing the law to 2 years AND 30 lbs.
