  • I was wondering that myself. I was watching some travel/history/food show one night and they mentioned how those in the failing Roman Empire really did not notice that they were in a decline. It was enough to make me think about it.

  • This wouldn't be the first time in our history that this has been said. http://www.potw.org/archive/potw351.html

    Or if Yeats isn't quite to your taste:

    Ecclesiastes 1:9 (New International Version, ©2010)

    9 What has been will be again,
    what has been done will be done again;
    there is nothing new under the sun.

    I suspect, however, that it will be a bit more like the British Empire than the Roman.

  • Good article Carpy, that's what I was talking about. History repeats itself.

  • And what is that path sweet? Please show where this country is deviating from the historical norm.
