Mucus in stool?

My baby girl is 23 months; she has been having some diarrhea. I figured I'll wait it out it would probably go away, but today I noticed she had large amounts of mucus in her stool when I changed her diaper and I'm concern. Should I be? What could possibly cause mucus in the stool?

  • In adults, its a sign of IBS. I'm not sure what it means in a baby.

  • Thank you for all the advice... I call the doctor and he told me I didnt have to bring her in, pretty much all of you were right. He said that she might have congestion in chest (not necesarily a cold) that is working it self out of her body. He said that it is as good thing if the mucus is getting out of her body because if it doesn't it can cause other serious infections :-)
