How much to you pay for Health Insurance?

How much do you pay for how many?

Is it through work or individual?

What is the deductable?

I'm having trouble. I make too much to qualify for assistance and my husband's work offers insurance so i don't qualify for MN Care. He's work's insurance is $760 a month with a $4000 deductable. The cheapest i can find is $500 for 3 of us with a $9000 deductable.

  • Through DH job it is 300 a month pretax. It is just for the two of us. The kids are on our states low income children's ins. I pay them 20 a month for 1 child the other is still free. I will pay for her as well once she turns 5.

  • Great West/Cigna PPO through my husband's employer. For our family of 5 we pay $0/month. $10/co-pays for all office visits. $7 prescriptions. Vision and dental included. I am so thankful for the wonderful coverage we have, without it there is no way we could afford the type of medical care we get.

Can you qualify for Healthy Families? It's for people who make too much for free assistance.

  • Wow, that is a lot. My husband's insurance through work is $150 a month pre-tax, $25 co-pay, $500 deductible per person and after the deductible it pays 80%. I honestly don't know what to tell you other than to keep looking around.

  • The amount you pay through an employer is directly related to how many people are on the plan. Ins. companies charge less for large companies that have a lot of people enrolled.

  • I pay about $100 a month for me and my 2 kids. It's a HRA. I get $1500 at the beginning of the year to spend. With that I pay zero out of pocket until that 1500 is gone. After that I have a 1500 deductible, so i pay 100% out of pocket until that is met. Then for the next 1500 i pay 80/20. After that my plan pays 100%. It's through my employer, I work at blue cross blue shield. That is our cheapest plan option, our PPO plan would be around $300 a mo for us.

  • just for myself we pay almost $400, and i think my deductible is $1,000, it is not through a job. for my husband we pay $90-something and i have no idea what his deductible is - his works way different than mine though, i hate it, it will only be worth it if he lands in the hospital for a week or more or needs a huge surgery. i used to have our kids on mine but they wanted to jack my premium up to almost $1,000 a month and we could not afford that so they are all on our state's medicaid program.
