can you get strep when you are already on an antibiotic?

for the last 10 days I have been on a very strong antibiotic ( the kind they use to treat MRSA) ... I didnt have MRSA but I did have a bad infection....

I am still taking it ( should be done with it on Monday) ....but I am really sure I am getting STREP throat..... I have had it before and I have all the symptoms again ( sore throat and itching ears, etc) ...

do you think since I am already on the antibiotics that it will go full blown or just stay how it is ?

I have a busy work week ahead

  • Unfortunately yes you can. As mentioned, different strains of bacteria need to be treated with different antibiotics.
