  • I guess it depends on who you're talking about. For women who don't have complications, it's just a normal body function, for those of us who can't do things naturally without risking our lives, it's something which can easily be an emergency situation...

As with anything else, it's not a black & white kind of thing.

  • I would be more apt to say it was normal human process. A normal bodily function sounds like you are talking about taking a poop. Unlike taking a poop child birth has it's risk and for some women it is more so than others. There was no way I could have had a virginal birth with either of mine. We would have both died without medical intervention.

(I know, I know. Vote down right?)

  • Normal.
Totally~ a normal part of Life!

(*it is compared to pooping or orgasming, it is a normal bodily function!)

  • Pooping doesn't come without risk. My mil didn't shell a pecan properly and perforacted her rectum. She had a colostomy bag for a year and 10 surgeries. I would imagine the risks are about the same :)

(sure for a VERY rare 5% of women it *could* become an "emergency" but for MOST it can and will happen normally)

By the way, there is ALSO a very rare chance that POOPING or PEEING requires medically help / intervention as well... does that mean EVERYONE should be going to a hospital to poop "just in case"?????

  • I'm still scratching my head about the "virginal" birth. Didn't that only happen once?

But I vote for normal part of being a human! No OBs required.

  • Normal bodily function. People treat it like it's ALWAYS a life threatening disease or something though.
