  • It depends on the area of the country you're in. A small town often doesn't have a lot of opportunities. As a former owner of a small family run restaurant, I'm sorry to tell you that most can only afford to pay a little above minimum wage. And also unfortunately, no benefits. I often said that I could just call myself a training center-this was during a high employment time. I would hire those who had little experience, train them and then they would go to fine dining restaurants, or large chain restaurants, where they could earn more. It may be a good opportunity for you, if you don't have much experience. Especially right now when restaurants are hurting and not many jobs are available. I know a teacher and an electrician who are now cooking in a small restaurant, because they couldn't find jobs in their field.

  • It really depends on the area, but I would imagine a small town family restaurant would pay anywhere from $8-$12 an hour.

  • Probably close to minimum wage to start... It's been my experience that those who work in food industries are some of the most underpaid people around. And,---they have hard, basicly unrewarding jobs.

  • I would guess minimum wage.

  • My grown son once applied at the great hamburger restaurant--- " 5 Guys ". There were perhaps 10 to 12 jobs available. Over 150 people applied for those 10 to 12 jobs ! OUTRAGEOUS !!! Needless to say,---my son didn't get hired !

  • If it's a small town and a family owned business, I would guess no more than $9/hour.
