  • There cocoa in the cake, so the blue may end up being brownish blue. The reason it's red velvet, is because the alkali in cocoa of old would produce a reddish tint to the cake batter when it was cooked. It was also called red devil cake.

  • I would imagine you could use any color of food coloring... It's basically a slightly chocolate cake that they color right? (I have only made it once)

  • I corrected no grammar. I corrected your spelling, because if you google "red velvette" you will not get cake info!

  • Red Velvet is a kind of cake - it is not just a cupcake, it is a cake flavor, like chocolate, or white, or vanilla. It's typically frosted with a cream cheese icing. You could attempt to make a different color velvet, but it will not be Red Velvet cake. Velvet, not velvette.
