Sasquatch, Yeti, Bigfoot... What do you believe?

Many native cultures (including many Native American Cultures) continue to hold beliefs surrounding these beings on a spiritual level rather than a physical one. However, many people (including many expert researchers) believe these are simply undiscovered living beings.

There have of course been countless footprints & sightings, a few photographs & video and in 2008 even a DNA sample which turned up to be an "unknown primate" which was very similar to human yet not.

So what do you think?? DO you think these are physical beings? Spiritual? Or just junk science and overactive imaginations?

  • jmo I think its an overactive imagination.

  • I think it's an overactive imagination as well. I could be wrong. There could be something out there, but my gut tells me that with so many people looking for physical proof for so long, something a little more definitive would have been found by now.

  • I think that it's unlikely that there's a large, undiscovered, primate living in the areas that these sightings have happened. For most of the evidence collected there has been logical explanations, or, clear evidence (or addmission) of hoaxes.

  • I do not believe they exist and if they do it is not from God.

Answer by Shaneagle777 at 11:27 AM on Nov. 29, 2010

  • I think it's most likely a combination of folklore and hoax in most cases. Also, likely that some of it is from incorrect identification of other animals, like bears or maybe gorillas in some cases. So I believe it's often just from overactive imagination. While new species and sub-species of animals are often found, I don't think it's likely that there's a undiscovered primate walking around. With humans being so widespread, it's likely we would have documented their existence by now if they were real. That said, I know there are a handful of scientists and anthropologists who consider it valid scientific research, but most feel the evidence is very lacking at this point.

  • I think they exist. I think to think that we know all the animals of the world is naive. The woods are big enough that they could hide, especially if they are as smart as some say they are.

Shan - I have to ask, why would they not be from God?

  • I have an open mind to the idea these things could exist. We are still finding new organisms never described by nature, so I suppose anything is possible.

Answer by at 1:08 PM on Nov. 29, 2010

  • I personally don't believe in them, but I will admit that its not something I've really taken time to consider. If I were to actually take the time to weigh the proof and it seemed logical to me, I would probably change my position.

Answer by bandgeek521 at 1:49 PM on Nov. 29, 2010

  • Why couldn't they be real. We don't know everything and we are always making new discoveries. I really do think they could very well exist.

Answer by Conley639 at 2:34 PM on Nov. 29, 2010

  • Until they offer hard evidence, such as physical remains or better yet a live specimen, I remain yeti, bigfoot, and sasquatch agnostic. I don't really believe they exist, but that belief can change when new evidence is presented.
