After delivery

Gave birth to a healthy baby boy wednesday morning :) i havent had a bm yet. i know when i had my daughter i had to have one before they let me leave the hospital.. but this time they asked the first day but no more. i told them i hadnt had one yet and they didnt seem concerned.. its worring me a little because i havent had one yet.. is this normal?

  • They probably don't seem too concern because it is your 2nd pregnancy so they assume you will do just fine since you did the first time. I think you should just get the stool softner and take as directed. I took stool softner once a day even after I had my first bm until I was sore or sensitive down there.

  • Do you feel like you need to go? Are you taking Colace (stool softener), it may help.

  • Did you have a c-section or a vaginal delivery? My son was born vaginally and my midwife wasn't worried about me having a bowel movement.

  • 1st congradulations...good job! It is kinda scarey to have to worry about a Bm after such a trama of birth..hugh? Now a days they send you home no matter what...crazy! Drink lotsa water, have a prune juice or like jademom07 said consider a colace or mild over the counter softner. It will be alright we woman were made to do this and are bodies know how to take care of things. Again congradulations! Wanna see some new baby pics soon.
