Christmas Traditions

Hello,
I have 2 children ages 8 and 20 months, anyway I am trying to start some fun family traditions that my kids will remember as a special time rather than just gifts.. Any suggestions or ideas on what you do with your kids? Thanks!

  • I bake cookies with mine every year ... cut out sugar cookies, and then we frost them and add sprinkles and other decorations. And we always take a plate of decorated cookies to an elderly neighbor.

  • We see Santa every year and we go to the Christmas parade each year, we also pick out a real tree - and put up lights together.

  • We go see Christmas lights, various town tree lightings, parades, zoo lights, holiday train rides, make cookies, make crafts, Christmas movie/story nights, etc.

  • We decorate the tree all together and put up the home decoration together while listening to Christmas music.
Bake cookies but more specifically home made cut-out sugar cookies and frost them with home-made cream cheese frosting-YUM
We love getting hot chocolate/coffee and driving around looking at Christmas lights
    Pictures with Santa
    Watching Christmas movies all together
on Christmas eve we go out for pizza, open 1 present, and go look at lights.
Christmas day open the rest of the presents have caramel rolls for breakfast and open stockings

  • We have traditionally cut down our own tree in the Sierra Nevada Mts. Trying to figure that 1 out for this year as we now live about 12 hours away.

  • Maybe after the gifts are open or before. Go see the lights in different places.
Take them to church so they know the really reason behind christmas.
    I hope this helps
