So I can't get my 3 year old to listen to me.

My 3 year old is being so bad lately. He wont listen to me for anything. i can pop him take his toys and put him in the corner and nothing seems to work.

  • Stop "popping" him if that isn't working.

    Get down on his eye level, or put him up to your eye level. Look him squarely in the eye and tell him what you need to in a firm but steady voice. Don't yell....in fact sometimes a "Harsh" WHISPER works best.

    This is what worked well with my children when they went through the "Thunderous 3s". And time outs did work for us - 1 minute per year in a special chair just for that purpose.
