2 Bumps

Was this wierd or an innocent observation?

my DD (13yo) is starting to develop.

We bump into a guy I hadn't seen in years, and one of the first things he says is "Oh she's getting all curvy". For some reason I creeped out at that, but played it cool and we wished each other well.

Probably harmless, but what a creepy feeling I got when he said that. Maybe it was just my protective instinct.

Edit: Yeah the way he worded it might have been better and had he been a woman, I probably wouldn't have batted an eyelash. I'll admit that.

  • I think it's because it came from a guy... I said this to my friend a few weeks ago. "OMG! When did she get HIPS!?" lol. Her DD is 11 this year.

  • I think it is creepy! Not something someone says after not seeing you for years. I wouldn't be affended if a friend or family member said it but someone I haven't seen in years YEA!

  • I'd definitely talk to the 13yo about the inappropriateness of some people's commentary --and to be wary of anyone so out of touch with modern civilized conversation, or out of control of what comes out of their mouths.

  • I agree, that's an odd thing to say to someone you haven't seen in years. I could see "Wow, she's really grown up", etc. But, what you posted, yeah, that's a bit odd.

  • Harmless.

People always notice appearances with they change a lot.

Like "Oh wow, you sure have grown into a man"

  • Creepy! You can notice a child is growing up without noticing their curves!?!?! What was he looking at/thinking to comment on her CURVES????
