seperation anxiety

my son who just recently turned 1 and i was wondering is 1 the "normal" age to experince seperation anxiety?

he cries everytime i leave the room and if he just cant see me. even if hes playing with daddy or grandma

  • Seperation anxiety is a sign of a healthy attachment between parent and child.

    When you're leaving the room, tell him not only that you're leaving but what you're doing and, most importantly, who will take care of him while you're gone. Even if it's only for a min.

    I know it sound silly to say all that to a toddler but it's really important. He gets upset because he feels insecure, if you give him some context for what is happening he'll feel a lot better.
